Well, I promised that I would bring back the Bucket Week theme -- and so I have. Very Happy It follows in a similar vein to last year's theme ("Symphony of the Inanimates"), structually speaking, in that it's comprised of three movements. However, in contrast with last year, this theme's movements are entirely separate from each other, and I will be posting them as the week progresses. As such, since today is the beginning of the week, here's the first of the three:

"Checks and Balances"
I. Rock (3:44)
II. Paper (3:49)

Enjoy, and stay tuned (GET IT?) for the rest of the piece! Mr Green

Awesome work! I liked the little nods to your theme song and City of Tropo in there (there may have been others I missed). Perchance, would your avatar possibly bear a clue as to the titles of the next two movements? Wink

Can't wait for the next installments.

...For the record, I forgot to mention in the original post that my primary intention for the first movement was to make it sound as blatantly ripped from the soundtrack to a generic cheesy '80s movie as possible. Sweatdrop Lune

In fact, there were! Most prominently, from 2:39 onward is a remix of the very first Bucket Week theme. Cool Also, at 1:00 there's a bit of the melody from Mean Green Caffeine Machine, at 1:06 you can hear a snippet of Althea's Theme, but I didn't expect anybody to catch those. ROFL Lune

Very astute of you. Wink Why, yes; yes it would.

Hooray! I've been wanting an MP3 of that since, oh, November 2003. Razz

Oh my god. For the win.

This has to be the best thing ever. I'm going to be pretty damn hard-pressed to write something nearly as good as this, but I'll give it a shot soon. Razz

Isn't the first part an odd take on the Fruitcake Theme? Or maybe I'm thinking of a different song... either way, it was crazy awesome. Your soundfonts win.

I really can't describe how much I loved that. Thank you.

It's been severely delayed due to an unexpectedly horrendous work schedule this week. Embarassed But excuses aside -- it's almost done, so look for it tonight.

So, Fruitcake lies to children and forswears oaths to kings. I don't think anyone's surprised.

Sorry for the letdown, guys. In my defense, it wasn't entirely my fault, but I've already said that. The second half of my week was very rough, and some friends kidnapped me for pretty much the entire weekend.

Nevertheless, Arrow movement two: "Paper". Probably isn't worth the wait, but whatever.

Apart from percussion, the only instruments I used were woodwinds. Wood = paper = FUNNY JOKE OKAY.

Even though the Week is over, I'm still going to do part three, but I won't make any promises regarding its completion date since fate/life will wind up screwing me over and forcing me to inadvertently break them again.

It's a good 'un! Seriously, I listened to them both in sequence, and it works out quite well. Eagerly awaited the finale.

No worries, man! Good music is for life, not just for Inanimacy Appreciation Week. And this is just such a piece of music! Kudos.

Eagerly anticipating the final installment Smile

Mmm. I am relaxed by the soothing powers of paper.

Oh, wait? Tuba, it seems? This reminds me of adventuring music. Pirate-y. I like. Very Happy

Now it sounds Scottish. Bagpipes + Snares = Scottish.

Ooh, now they're in a major key. Cheery. Smile

This is excellent work, Fruity-pie. Keep it up!

I love the bari sax and the English horn.

I want to write something this catchy and light-hearted.

Code:
while(!fileExists("drf_iaw07_3scissors.mp3")
{
     smackWithObject("Dr. Fruitcake", "Wrench");
}

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that'll be the name of the third movement.

.....

Did I hear a Bagpipe in there? 'Sounds pretty sweat! I always love Celtic style-y music.

This is some very nice music! Keep at it (and try not to get hit with CM's wrench).
