I've turned off the email verification feature. This is due to a large number of complaints from Gmail users that the emails never, in fact, arrived. In fact, I've just now gone in and had to manually activate a number of accounts (you're welcome JK, Timely, El Orni, and 'MightTheyBeGiants?' ). So that's disabled for now. FYI. _________________ "" |

Shouldn't really matter for now, since the bots are gone. _________________ Some things are best read out of context.

Yeah, thanks.
I bet they come through in two months' time when everything's up and running again. And then our accounts will die. |

I've never had problems with GMail receiving phpBB email verifications in the past.
P.S. Did the people in question check their GMail Spam folders as well? |

Yeah. I don't think anyone at all got the email, regardless of service. I could be wrong though. :/ _________________ when the world is sick, can't no one be well? but i dreamt we was all beautiful and strong

I don't understand why these e-mails just dissapear. I'm not saying it's just on these boards, it happens on a lot of places, proboards especially. _________________ [quote="Someone's sig on the AoC forums"]THis game really is more geared towards the adult then, teenbeat wow. Probably just a misconfiguration somewhere. Consider how much these guys were doing just to get the forums up, and a little section on email verification doesn't take that much precedence. _________________ when the world is sick, can't no one be well? but i dreamt we was all beautiful and strong

Well, I doubt that it has anything to do with what we did to set it up, as we configure phpBB to use php's mail function. It is possible that HostDime has not configured php's modules correctly (they sure as hell buggered up MySQL until we got them fix it), but since I've never had to configure that portion of Apache, that is a guess at best.
Regardless, email verification was only necessary to prevent casual spam bots. We seem to have eliminated that issue, so I don't see any concerns with it disabled. |
