Don't use Mibbit.

Lune kindly informed me that, apparently, Mibbit users have been banned from irc.windfyre.net--unsurprisingly as it can be used for ban evasion and all that.

So use some other client. Chatzilla mIRC xchat, whatever you need. BUT COME BACK TO IRC PLZ. I know most of you Britfolks used Mibbit, so...

XChat is the best imo.

mIRC would be the best if the author would get his head out of his nether-regions and quit it with the nagware.

Edit: At one time, I was following this software, but they weren't moving through their versions fast enough for me to care too much. It may interest someone else, though. For all I know they've got it working well.

The only reason I ever [s:8b917fb468]chat[/s:8b917fb468] ...okay, lurk on the IRC channel is because I can do it from Pidgin. I wasn't about to run another program just to lurk. Razz But I have Pidgin running on my laptop near-constantly, so I log into AIM/MSN/IRC automatically every time I open it up (so if anyone sees me on AIM randomly logging on and off, that's probably because I closed the laptop and moved somewhere else).

Now, do you know of any way to make it automatically send the /join command when you login? I just see the login message pop up from Windfyre and I've just been closing it lately. Smirk Lune

I find Mibbit works sometimes. Sometimes it doesn't. I'll usually try Mibbit and if it doesn't work I just won't go on because I have other things I should be doing.

can't you just set up a buddy pounce to do it every time you log in?

i don't really know because i never use those. i just click on the chat in my buddy list.

I'm pretty sure when you add a chat to your buddy list, there's a checkbox that says "join automatically". That's how I does it.

I know some people who use hydrairc, it's supposed to be a decent client. Thought about putting it on the list and whatnot.

I know nothing of pidgin, only of trillian, sorry! Trillian does have IRC though and for your purposes as people who don't spend all their time on IRC, it works fine. Ask SB#1!
