I had myself a bit of a Wii-sprii this week, using up gift vouchers from christmas and my birthday, which happens to fall on the day after christmas.

I gots myself Castlevania Judgement (despite bad reviews, I actually like it for the soundtrack and gameplay, even if the characters look... odd), Eledees, a.k.a Elebits to those in USA, and Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers, which is dangerously fun. Hot girls + zombie killing + bikinis + katanas = fun times.
All were on easter holiday sales, still saving for the final chapter of One Piece Unlimited Cruise.

NOOOOOOO I do not own it yet but I want it but it costs maney. Sad

In other news! As stated previously, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus is a horrible and wonderful game. Wonderful because it's just so bloody good, horrible because I can't stop playing it help me

Also, Dokapon Journey's pretty friggin' sweet, too. There are a few flaws when compared to Dokapon Kingdom (only four jobs, with minor variations between genders; can't change jobs mid-game), but it's still pretty cool.

Well, I haven't played it yet, but this weekend I finally caved and bought the Orange Box, thanks to Steam's ridiculous $10 sale. Very Happy

Hrm, speaking of Steam and games I've never played...

I mean really 10 bucks is like, a few good meals. And I could stand to lose some weight. SO YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I played Tekken Tag Tournament today on the PS2. I got it preowned for £5.
Unfortunately, the disc doesn't work properly.
Still fun though.

Banjo-Tooie on Live Arcade.
Stop'n'Swop finally revealed - but it's hardly the "original plan" that Rare had for the feature, like they said it was.
The first few unlockables are predictably lame, the next few are the same bonuses we got from the SnS Eggs in the N64 version.. and then the last one... is both an elaborate in-joke and an epic feature that's quite too big of a secret to spoil. But I will anyway. Lessee how I do that highlightey spoiler text thing again.. aha!
[spoiler:c9c4d87651]The final Stop'n'Swop egg unlocks the first bonus in Stop'n'Swop II, a list of secrets to be implemented in a new and upcoming Banjo-Kazooie game. It gets bigger: The hidden N64 carts from the original Banjo-Tooie are still in the game, but now they contain new Stop'n'Swop eggs, a gold, silver and bronze egg that add more bonuses to the SnSII list on your item collection screen. It looks like they're serious, and it's not a joke. Kazooie jests that this means they'll get to see the series' 20th birthday, as it'll take another 10 years for them to make the next game. Banjo claims that no, Rare have plans for them in the near future.[/spoiler:c9c4d87651]
Like with the port of the first game on XBLA, I've got a few nitpicks.
The background music in the opening cutscene is horribly out of sync, and the themes don't change in time with the scene changes like in the original. You see Grunty chasing Mumbo and hear the happy music from inside Banjo's House. You see Bottles looking at his playing cards and hear evil Witches-emerging-from-HAG1 music. You get the idea.
The horrible, horrible text they used for speaking in the XBLA port of the original game returns.
Also, as the controls have changed to suit the 360 controller, the button names have changed of course, but they made no attempt to alter Jamjars' tutorial chants to reflect on this. You'd think if they were able to edit the game enough to add new text for the Stop'n'Swop segments, and [spoiler:c9c4d87651]model new secret items to appear in the game[/spoiler:c9c4d87651], they'd be able to come up with some fitting rhymes to accommodate the new control scheme. Take the first-person egg firing in Mayahem Temple. Jamjars mentions entering Banjo's first person view by pressing C - this is now Y. Within 5 seconds, I was able to come up with "Press L or R to watch them fly!" to rhyme with the button change. But did Rare think of this? Of course not, they didn't change anything but the button icons.

I suppose this isn't surprising in the least though - Rare can't rhyme for peanuts these days. Here are some glistening examples of their Gruntilda "rhyming" scripts from Nuts & Bolts;

"You'll never beat me for good this game, I'll still come back as an eyeball or brain!"

"The fortress is breached, its defenses smashed! My vehicle options are dwindling fast..."
(Really Grunty, you're not even trying. You could have at least said "My chances of winning are fast being dashed!" or "I would have done better but my GPS crashed!" or even "Just wait til' next round, I'll win in a flash!", ANYTHING... these are professional writers Rare have working for them.)

"These laser blasts were meant to break you. It's going wrong, I really hate you!"
(........
.............
Seriously? Rhyming "you" with "you"?
....Wow. Top notch.)

If you say it with a northen accent, it works. And I s'pose you could classify Trycross as being "up north"... At least, it's further up north than me. Razz

I'm still debating whether to get the port or not- I expect I will in the end, or I'll make my brother get it. Mr Green

It's not my fault, I'm not to blame,
That my rhyming lines are so terribly lame!
The guy who wrote my scripts before,
Quit Rare after N64.
You all know, that fateful day,
When Microsoft took Rare away!
But as for me, I wouldn't fret...
I'll have my skills back soon, I bet!
Whenever they make Banjo 4 -
My linguistic talents will shine once more!

Phoenix Wright. Just finished the first game, and it's great. The last case left me kind of befuddled though, even after I finished it. I like how I've never been driven to the point of using a guide, even if I have been driven to frustration by the game.

Also, Fragg, you're wrong. Phoenix Wright isn't just a comic book in the guise of a video game, because if it were actually a comic book, I wouldn't read it.

Yeah I'm not sure if I like the last case the most in the second one or the third one.

All the final cases are really good (second to last case in the first one since the last one is an added bonus case) though,

Oh, so I've been going through the Metal Gear Solid series. I was over at a friend's house and he had 3, and since it's a prequel to the other games, I played it. Then I borrowed 1 and 2 from a friend. I've beaten 1, and I'm working through 2 now. Then I'll finish off 3, then begin 4.

The games are trippy, but pretty friggin' good.

I still need to play MGS4. The others are some of my favorite games.

BEGGING THE QUESTION.

Also, I didn't say it WAS a comic, I said it should have been. Specifically, an "eComic," which I understand is like Kid Radd, but with sound.

But this is all moot anyway, because there IS a Phoenix Wright comic. I can't find a relevant link at the moment, but I have seen it around the filesharing networks.

Well, see, I would not read that comic. That's why Phoenix Wright is better as a video game and not a comic.

I saw that comic in a bookstore and bought it! It's not terrible good. Mostly just a collection on unrelated fan comics, most of which are entirely too concerned about any homoerotic tension between Phoenix and Edgeworth. They didn't even do any cases!

Also what's up with this, Nintendo? It's time to put down the Pokemon! I do not need to be seeing Pokemon ShinyRuby and PolishedSapphire next, or whatever the hell.

And as with Fire Red/Leaf Green, the availability of a direct comparison between the most recent original installment and a remake in it's style will be a painful reminder of how far the series hasn't come.

They're going to keep making these because Pokemon has sold over twice as many units as Final Fantasy has.

Granted it's because everyone buys two of them and there's a new game every month, but money is money.

Good thing I was never entirely too concerned with Duke Nukem to begin with (FPS's and most TPS's aren't really my thing).

But Pokemon, now THAT's a game that exists.

Heh, I only ever played the Duke Nukem games that were 2D platformers with guns. Razz I don't recall having any interest in the more "realistic" FPS iterations -- but then again, my parents wouldn't have let me get them anyway!

(After all, we are talking about the mother who thought Pokémon Stadium was unnecessarily violent. Lick Lune)

I KNOW and I need to buy Platinum but it costs so much MONEY and that frustrates me ARGH.

Anyway, what am I doing here? I should be playing Metal Gear Solid 2. More specifically, I should be doing all of the missions. Smile I love it when games have more extra stuff than actual game.
