I feel like we've all gone off and done a lot of different/new things than previously, and we all haven't talked nearly as much as we used to (at least by way of the 4umz). So what are you lot into these days? We've all probably CHANGED A LOT and all that.

Me, um, I'm in college now. That's a change, right? I'm just a freshman, but still. I'm at the University of Southern California. So I live in Los Angeles now, which is pretty much completely different from 60,000-population-city Tennessee. I'm enjoying being in a big city a lot, though, since I've never lived in one. I doubt I'll stay in LA once I'm done with school, but it's nice for the time being. Lots of things to do, and lots of concerts, more importantly. Very Happy

I'm studying psychology but I put in an application to the music school to try to be a music composition major. And if I succeed at that, then I'd like to do film scoring and/or video game scoring. (Hey, I can hope can't I?) But there's a strong chance I won't get in, I think they take 8 people per year. Still, worth a shot, right? I should be hearing back about that pretty soon, actually. So that's cool.

I'm done typing about myself. Type at me.

You sound fairly contented Damian, I think I'll have to induce some kind of misery in you at some point! For my own part, I've been consuming a lot of extremely dangerous narcotics and working an extraordinarily dull office job. Not necessarily at the same time.

I did a fairly short stint as a door-to-door salesman which was hilariously inappropriate work for someone like me, whom people wouldn't be any less likely to trust if I was dressed as Satan and wearing a t-shirt saying "I AM OBVIOUSLY LYING TO YOU".

So yeah, that's what university education leads to, I guess. I'm constantly wondering to myself when I'll be going over life's "it's all downhill from here" threshold and am thus obliged to hurl myself into the path of an oncoming bus. You know, for a laugh.

Well those two posts contrasted greatly! Lester, I bet you could succeed if you had more confidence.

I have so far gotten into 2 out of the 5 colleges I've applied to, and haven't yet heard back from the other 3. I am also starting to be beset by mild senioritis. I'm still getting my work done; I'm just procrastinating it more.

I've been mooching off of family members and not really knowing what to do with my life and trying to go to school but not doing well when I do, mostly because I don't try very hard. I lose steam after a few weeks. So I be going into the Air Force. Found out last Friday what my job's going to be and when I'm going in- I'm going to do maintenance on big airplanes ("heavies") and I go in to basic training June 22. Maybe they'll make me less of a hoolagin and I'll actually be able to accomplish the things I want to by the end of basic training? It's worth a shot.

I've been working horrible, low-paying jobs to try and pay for school, so I'm looking forward to making $1,700 a month working an awesome job, and having Uncle Sam pay for my college.

I don't like our current use of the military much, and I tried to get in to the Coast Guard, because Coasties do good things. I'm going to be assisting a giant killing machine, so I'll make even by volunteering for Habitat for Humanity or something. You know, like carbon offsetting.

Also, I vote Pants because at Portland Community College (Where I am currently going to school) there is an improv theater group called PANTS. It stands for People Acting Not Too Seriously, and that describes us lot rather well.

I'm currently at uni (which I suppose is new? Got there in September) in Hertfordshire in the UK, studying Music Composition and Technology. Workin' (in theory) on a bunch of coursework at the moment; composing, writing up, the like.
I'm off on a shiny holiday to the USA in 20 days! Very Happy I'll be gracing the cities of New York, LA and San Francisco with my presence. So yeah hey Damian I'll be in LA in 4 weeks. :] Also to Damian, if your Music Composition course is anything like mine, 1/10 of the course will drop out, 2/10 will disappear never to be seen again, and 1/10 will just turn up once a week. If it's like mine, that is.

I think that would probably make me more likely to trust you. ;D

I actually heard that our music comp program has a 100% retention rate. I don't know if that's true, but if it is, then that's really, really impressive.

I'm in the same boat as El Ornitorrinco but for pending military service. Also I'm probably a decade older than him which is significantly more embarrassing.

But soon I'm going to buy a nice WACOM tablet from a friend for cheap, and maybe then things will turn for better.

I've been forced by the recession to take a succession of food-industry jobs, which was initially pretty much a mockery of my college degree... But, this has made me uncover a passion for food. I mean, I always loved to cook, but it hadn't hitherto clicked with me that this might be a career move. So currently I am wondering if I ought to go the whole hog and train as a chef and make a Thing of this. I have just this week accepted a promotion to Team Leader (pretty much a bullshit post, but it sounds cool) at my current workplace, and I guess this helps me to recover some confidence about my employability. Since I usually feel that I wouldn't employ myself to lick stamps. (And besides, anybody who knows me well enough to have followed my stupid blogs over the years knows damn' well how little I like the art industry anyway, so, to hell with my degree).

I've actually been placed in a semi-good job and have been working for roughly 5 months now. I'd have posted here from work more often if there was more to talk about. Sad

I also have a new place... which is very empty. I need a cat or something...

But yeah. Suffice it to say, I'm in one of those "transitioning" periods in life at the moment. -_-

EDIT: And I know I haven't posted in for-fugging-ever. See my first comment. ROFL Lune

I blog-stalk you from time to time and I didn't know that, matter o' fact.

By the way, it strikes me that my last post made me come across as a suicidally miserable depressio. This is actually incorrect, as I am in reality boringly content.
Y'know how you find yourself doing stuff that's shit, but at the same time not quite shit enough to motivate you to go out find some other shit to do instead of the shitty shit you're doing at the moment? Yeah, that's more-or-less where I'm at.

o hi chez munky ♥

Well, I was a package handler for UPS starting in September and ending last week when I quit. That is where all my time has been going. I also have a girlfriend, and music school. So yeah, been busy. But I'm returning to my first school, which I didn't like because it was too small. I decided that I would rather go to a smaller, less well-known school for free or cheap than get into horrific debt by going to a larger school that isn't any better.

Also I am on Spring Break.

Also I am on Spring Break.

UPS eats souls. That awful job [expletive deleted]ed up my head, man. We're (me + Psychologist fiancee + Psychiatrist) fairly sure I "got" depression in the Spring 2008 semester, but working at UPS from late April through August that summer absolutely sealed the deal. It was awful, awful, awful.

HEY GUYS! GIVE ME ATTENTION! I went to the University of Louisville and, when I dropped "engineering" (read: Computer Engineering and Computer Science) to get English (read: REAL ENGLISH, WRITING) and Mass Communications, I decided to go to Indiana University's Southeast (IUS) campus which is about 25 minutes north of my downtown Louisville abode. The Darkest Paladin, aka the super-cool [lol real name], switched from IUS to UofL, then switched back. I switched from UofL to IUS! Isn't that just wild?

I agree. I owe something like $12,000 from UofL's evilness. IUS is almost half the cost (half the price? I can never figure out how to word that) ANNND no one gives a crap where your degree comes from AAAAAAND it just says "Indiana University" not "Some Dinky Satellite Campus of Said University" so everyone's happy.

I'm a bum. I quit school in late February of 2009 'cause my mental health was getting worse, though I'd been receiving treatment for depression since late Augustish 2008. After two and a half years of resisting God's plan, I finally gave up and stopped pursuing a degree I never should have gone to school for in the first place. Which left me confused as to what to do next. I hit up a most fantastic career counselor at my former school and prayer and ceaseless talking with others gave me the idea to just get a degree in a different strength (English) and then find a job. I'd been trying it the other way 'round (Here is this career I want, let's get this degree to get me into this career) and it failed miserably, so now I'm open to a million possibilities--like an open wound on your palm!

Because English degrees are utterly useless (EVERYONE LOOK AT LESTER SQUARE) I'm getting "Mass" Communications to go with it to bring legitimacy to my "higher" education and help approach the difficulty of the engineering school I'm leaving. Not having to take Calculus, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra is sweet, sweet news to my ears.

I joke that I stopped pursuing one of my degrees to just stick with the CE part of CECS. Communications and English. HA HA LAUGH WITH ME.

What's being said, what's in your head, what's in the words that we believe?
Bop to the sound, drop what you've got -- 'cause it's a song inside of me.
I can see your face, I can feel the sea, I see that it's a part of me.
Let's break the trance, let's make 'em dance and see what we are meant to be!
Might be the end, might be the start, could be the air that lies between.
Could be this song, could be the beat, could be the words that set you free.
You say believe, I don't believe, I can't believe in what you say.
I'd rather be a part of me, a part that you? You'll never see.
