OBNOXIOUSLY LARGE EDIT!
This thread has been rendered obsolete by the "Friend codes" article on FCWiki.
That is all.

[s:1d2427da5c]
Well! I've finally managed to procure my own Wii! Mr Green ...And my Friends list is depressingly empty. I seem to recall that, in times past, there was a topic where you lot all posted your friend codes -- but it doesn't seem to be around anymore. As such, I decided to make a sticky topic with a similar purpose where everybody can post their codes for pruner-free posterity.

Obviously, at present I'm specifically interested in getting everybody's Wii codes, but this topic can be used for any other similar sorts of codes as well -- just be sure to clearly label what each code refers to.

Here's what we've collected thus far! (Last updated August 31, 2009.)

I'll do more than just that:

KBK's Wii Number
8057 1726 6861 6601

Pokémon Diamond
1890 7702 0486

Animal Crossing: Wild World
3351 0586 4692

Mario Kart DS
3092 9723 8228

Metroid Prime Hunters
0731 1701 8004

There, all collected neatly in a single place. Good topic idea, Fruitopia!

MKDS: 279232-393625, nick: magic.
Pkmn Diamond: 2878-6072-5685 Damian
Planet Puzzle League: 025871-997876
Pkmn Battle Rev: 3952-4056-6502 Damian

There, I've sent you a Wiimail and a Mii to your Mii Channel.

Oh, Damian, I still have to get that Darkrai off you. And any other spare event legendaries you may have... you can have them back after they're in my pokedex if you like.

@SB: Thank you for telling us that. We needed to know, eh? Purely for the benefit of this thread.

@BF: We should play Mario Kart again sometime. Razz

Well, if I had a Wii I'd post the code here, but I guess this post is useless too. Sad

We should! And I definitely would, but I've got an evil, DS-hating new router now after the old one shorted out. It sees the DS, it just won't let it receive any traffic. Curiously, the Wii has no such problems with it. Anyway, I've got to get me one of those wi-fi dongle things... actually, could anyone recommend me a good place to buy them? Also, any idea if I'll still have the same problem once I've got the dongle, or will my PC be acting as a kind of server for the DS, thus foiling my router's plans?

Huh--I have a friend with a similar problem who can use both the Wii and the 360, as well as every wifi DS game except MKDS. It's pretty weird.

Anyway... I have no experience with them unfortunately, but your router shouldn't be involved in the connection process. Well, it is in a roundabout way, but I should think it would work. Clearly you're better off asking someone more experienced in the matter though. Razz
Could it be some kind of security issue with your router? I guess you've checked all the error code shiz already?

Yeah, I've checked all the error codes and it seems to be that the router just won't allow internet access to the DS. It's not possible to open ports within the router, either, because it's so rubbish that you've got very limited control over its security. Bah. Ah well, I suppose I'll just have to find a convenient wi-fi spot somewhere in town for Pokeymanhandling and the like. Razz

Haha, I can imagine you heading to a local café, ordering some coffee, and sipping it as you angrily search through the GTS. Some people give you strange looks as you shout in anguish, "Damn it all! I had that Giratina before you, you dirty bastard!"

In all seriousness, though, your best bet sounds like it should be checking out the wi-fi dongle a bit more. I don't know what's up with your router, but that sucks. Razz

Ahh, much better. I just did what I should have done three months ago: I've updated my first post and consolidated all the codes posted thus far into a nice, tidy list. I'll try to keep it up-to-date as people post moar codez.

Where would I find my Wii's friend code for Smash in particular? Me and Chiz wanna know since the ability to interwebz seems very possible all of a sudden.

Like, do we have a different code for our Wii and for the game itself? Is it separate in anyway? I never can comprehend Nintendo's ideas for the internet.

Yeah, the way the Wii works with online multiplayer (AFAIK) is that you have one code for your console itself, and a completely separate code for each WiFi-enabled game you buy.

So for every single person you want to Brawl with, you'll need to input two 16-digit codes. Somewhat annoying, no? (But according to Nintendo, gamers like it this way. Confused)

Regular friendcodes are usually twelve digits, not sixteen. Just a discrepancy there.

The stupid thing is that you ought to be able to use your wii address book in the same way that XBL works--that is, your wii code is representative of your gamertag and if you add someone, you can play any game with them. Actually I think the entire online system ought to work just like XBL. (Usernames, communication, lobbies, etc...) But that's me. I'm sure I'm not the only one (no more friend codes? I don't MIND that, but I'd sure love something better!) either. It would save so much trouble. :\

But yeah Kevin asplained it correctly. *kicks Pokemon Battle Revolution friendcode around*

Nintendo announced a new online service - "Pay to Play" or something. Besides there being no information on it, the genius minds in the gaming industry have deduced you'll have to pay for it.

I'm hoping it's a bit like Xbox Live - well, obviously without all the DLC.

Serious?

That sucks a lot on one side, but on the other that might mean it will actually be good! -ish.

Will they be doing this for Brawl?

Probably.
