Introducing the FCmidi Appeals System
The purpose of the Appeals system is to give you, the forumers, a public outlet for expressing your thoughts on an act of moderation.

Before posting an appeal thread:
  • Be sure of what you are going to post, and try to make a good case. Don't just post here because you didn't like what one moderator did. Think about why. Ask yourself if this is a significant problem, and if you have a viable solution to it.
  • Be sure you are composed, and your posts are mature and constructive. We recognize that being on the recieving end of moderation can be a frustrating experience, but posting in an angry mood will only dig that hole deeper. Consider taking a few hours away from the forum to take your mind off the event, and take another look at the issue the next time you return.
  • Consider sending a PM instead! Particularly if your issue is a minor one, think about it. Does this really need public exposure? The moderation staff, including the moderator who you take issue with, are here to help. Just because we performed an act of moderation does not mean we will not explain it, or even reverse it if you can show us something we hadn't considered. Keep in mind, however, that petitioning a different moderator will not instantly reverse the decision; we respect each other's decisions and if a legitimate problem is brought up, we will discuss it in the Moderator Cave.
  • Be advised that posting your thread will not guarantee a reversal of the act. When we moderate, it's on the basis of a post/thread/etc. not following the rules. Therefore, in order for us to overturn a decision, we'll need you to show us something contrary to that notion (e.g. a misunderstanding we had about the thread/post, or a legitimate argument for that thread/post not breaking the rule). This is not a place to endlessly discuss minor rules with gray areas (such as minor edits due to the profanity rule) or have long, winded debates on existing rules.

The reason we prefer that appeals to moderating decisions are done through PMs, is partially because the intent is to keep the potentially harmful, offending or misplaced post/thread/issue out of the public eye. We understand that, although we make every effort to the contrary, this may create a situation where you feel like your criticism is ignored or ill-treated. This Appeal system is our attempt to rectify that problem. However, it has been consistently demonstrated that public discussion can quickly become heated, and when it reaches that point, the issue is unlikely to be solved at all! With that in mind, all appeals must be mature and respectful, and all criticism must be constructive.

Note that all appeals are very heavily moderated, and posts which are not mature, respectful and constructive can and will be deleted without warning.

Thanks for reading, and enjoy the forums. Smile
