We should have a tech support board. I don't like chzrm3's inane computer questions clogging up a board that is supposed to be for Incredible Discussion. I believe many will agree.

I'd add a poll, but you can't add polls to topics in this board.

anyway, i sort of agree. maybe a general help board. the problem with those (in my experience) is that no one will read them but maybe that won't happen with such a small community here.

but yeah, chzrm's discussion seems pretty credible. it has too much street cred to be incredible

While Senator Izzhov's intentions are virtuous, his ideas are naive, and show a critical lack of understanding in regards to what is best for the forum.

There are many flawed reasons to create a new board - for example, the notion that it will "create posts". This is illogical: forming new boards will not open up any new opportunites for posting, but will merely shift posts from one format to another. The net effect is that posters have the same amount of posts, but across each board there will be less posts. If we do not create new posts, then, all we achieve is a significant expense on the behalf of the administration, who must go through the process of creating this new board, moderating it, and ensuring its success.

I will not pretend that our great forum is without issues - every day, posters fall victim to new php attacks. Potential new citizens are pulled away to due "school" and "being gay". These are troubling times indeed, and only a fool would ignore them.

However, Senator Izzhov's suggestion to create a new board does nothing to alleviate these issues, and is nothing more than needless pork-barrel spending... this is not the time. One surely must question the motives and intentions of an individual who, in his opening speech to pass this new bill, flagrantly steals from the nation of Smash-Boards. I will not delve into details on said senator's character, but I would ask you all to consider what else he stands to gain from this motion.

It is therefore that I, as elected by the proud Yoshi's of this forum to be their voice, vote strongly against this proposition.

As far as the topic, I think the biggest downside to making this its own forum, now that I'm thinking about it, is that when someone makes a tech-help thread on the misc board, it usually gets some nice attention, and their question either gets answered, or they're pointed in the direction of an answer.

If there's a tech-help board, it could mean that a lot of these threads won't get any posts at all. "Hey guys my HD just got a virus, HOW DO I FIX?" --> moved to tech help --> 0 posts 4evar!!!

To put it into perspective, imagine if there was no media madness board? Everyone's music would get a lot more responses, I'd imagine.

Actually hmm, I wonder if it wouldn't help the musicians of this forum to do away with media madness, so that their creativity can spill forth unto the websoite.
