Hey hey,
Fruity and I were talking the other day about October, and what we should do for it. By that I mean... in the past, we had "Bucket Week." That went on for 2-3 years, but then it kind of got old. So we broadened it to "Inanimacy Appreciation Week," which worked well enough for the last two years.*
But it occurs to us now... what should we do this year? IAW is kind of losing its luster as well, methinks. So here's a thread for everyone to float opinions. Usually this occurs in the last week of October, so we've got a little over a month to think of something. For the uninitiated, we basically make up a new board with various random topics about the holiday we're celebrating... then after a week, it's all treasury'd for poster[s:c8d91483e7]ior[/s:c8d91483e7]ity.
So... I'm almost afraid to ask... what should we be celebrating this year?
*If you don't count the UTTERLY UNFORGIVABLE** omission of a certain work by the name of "Movement 3: Scissors."
**Okay, maybe it's forgiveable, but I'm spiteful, so there.***

No it's not.
Then again, I've only done it for one year.
But still. |

I think it defeats the purpose of a holiday to reformat it every time there's a (perceived) drop in interest. It becomes more like a thematic, annual 'party' on the forums than any sort of ritual resembling a holiday.
And I, for one, am no "party-animal".
So I must cash in my vote for 'KEEP IAW'. _________________
THis game really is more geared towards the adult then, teenbeat wow. This mmo makes u think, somthing a teenager hates to do. -Skopas, eloquently discussing how grown up AoC is.

XD! The poll right now is tied 3/3 with "keep IAW" and "do something new - I will ramble about this in my post." Yet no such ramblings exist in the thread. _________________
THis game really is more geared towards the adult then, teenbeat wow. Noice.
I think the more the users plot about this the less fun and exciting it will be, personally--mayhaps the adminz can instead come up with some kind of surprise, or some kind of alteration of IAW?
I'd be fine with whatever, or IAW, or nothing, or anything though. _________________ when the world is sick, can't no one be well? but i dreamt we was all beautiful and strong

We need to keep IAW guys. I think if no one who voted for "a new idea" actually rambles about one we should do IAW again anyways. _________________ BRAND NEW FCMidi Forums! |

I personally believe in the magic of Bucket Week. I technically never experienced I.A.W., but it just seems like a more specific, bucket-related holiday would be more... special, you know?!!
While I'd prefer Bucket Week again, I'm cool with whatev'. |

See, the reason it was changed from Bucket Week to I.A.W. in the first place (from what I gather) was the fact that other inanimate objects felt that they were being neglected and under-appreciated, and therefore demanded that the holiday's festivities be expanded to include them and thus conform to the standards of political correctness.
Personally, I think that if we changed it back to the original Bucket Week, there would be an uproar amongst all other inanimate objects, who, in a blind rage stemming from their sudden exclusion from the holiday celebration, would revolt, resulting in a bloody and costly war that would no doubt drain the forum of its resources and cause an economic depression from which we would be unable to recover. |

you aren't threatening to revolt
also you're a minority
no one cares about you
well at least animated things are a minority compared to inanimate things |

Yeah, but animated things have had a significant impact on the future of existence, for both inanimate and animate objects!
If you dare to exclude the animate from the festivities of the inanimate on the basis that we're a "minority", you'll eventually have to start whittling away at other, quite-inanimate objects that are also minorities!
This isn't to say I support the notion of "thing appreciation week" - it is not part of my agenda to dilute an important inanimate event solely so that I may seek personal gratification from the festivities thereof. Regardless, senator Izzhov, I have to question the validity and intention behind your logic and reasoning. To talk, as you talk.... it smacks of racism, sir!!! _________________
THis game really is more geared towards the adult then, teenbeat wow. That was actually a very clever response and I'm a little saddened that no one either a) got it or b) cared to compliment you on your response because they are jealous. _________________ dude look at this signature |

I voted to keep IAW.
Maybe it's because I've only done it once, but you don't just throw out a holiday/tradition because it's getting old. srsly guise

Um, IAW is in two days.
Are we still doing it..?
I'm going to say yes, as it outnumbers all the other votes put together.
But I noticed that polls usually aren't serious anyway.
So I'm wondering what the real verdict was/is. _________________ http://gadgettr.deviantart.com/ |

Oh yeeeeeah, this thing.
Well, if I recall correctly, Bucket Week only lasted for 2 years, so perhaps IAW's days are up, too. We'll have to think pretty hard to come up with a new thing to celebrate before tomorrow, though.
I suggest mediocre celebrities.
