From my point of view (that is to say, that of someone who doesn't like TMBG) Thorpe's hostility appears to be based more on his own objections to We The Geek Populace, than on any actual critique of the music.
And if We The Geek Populace are pissing off people like him, I'm glad to see we're doing our job spectacularly well.
EDIT: Actually, never mind. Having read a few more of his articles (hey, I'm at work and bored, man) I realise he's in a constant state of sarcasm. False alarm!

If you want to hear music that kicks you in the metaphorical balls, listen to "Beautiful Sunday" by Kashiwa Daisuke. Listen to it the whole way through with earphones on the highest volume and don't press pause or stop no matter what.

Yeah, I did feel the same way about them, until SOMEONE (cough-tldeifefcraftht-cough) went through a phase where the only thing they would listen to was TMBG, which just made me hate them even more. |
