i hadn't played a videogame in 3 months until today when i tried to play cave story. freezes my computer, so THAT's out.

i was also considering buying banjo tooie since i haven't played that, but even unboxed, cartridge-only copies sell for like £25 minimum on ebay. what the fuck. i guess emulation will be too crappy without a controller...

I played Prototype at my friend's house. It was hard.

I also finished Bioshock recently. The end guy was all like "rar" and then I shot him.

My brother beat him to death with the wrench without taking any damage.

And that guy represents an unregulated capitalist market, so he really beat capitalism to death with a wrench!

Oh jesus Just Cause 2 is so hilarious. Got it this morning.

So I'm riding on top of a car, right, being driven by an alcoholic, right, and there's these soldiers chasing me along a bridge in a jeep, right, so I fire my grappling hook at their jeep, right, and fire the other end at a point next to the edge of the bridge just ahead of them, right, and wait a few seconds, right, BOOM they just flip up and fly off the side of the bridge.

I crossbowed him in the throat repeatedly. What does that represent?

Guys, I played a game that is awesome, excellent, new, and very fun. You must play it.

It's called Uplink, it's a less than fifty MB game, and it's not going to win any graphics awards. That being said, download it now. Yeah, it's pirated. They have no anti-piracy mesaures in place. If you love it as much as I do, buy it. I bought the anthology, and the other games seem okay, but I haven't really gotten into them and they don't seem like they're as much fun. I would tell you more about Uplink, but I don't want to spoil the surprise as to what sort of a game it is or what you do in it. It's fun. =)

Why on earth would they be trying to sell a game where they can't even tell you what you do in it for fear of spoiling?

Uh, yeah. Nine years ain't too bad, though. Lately I've been playing Pharoah, which is from '99, and FreeCiv, which is based off of the original release from '91. I mean, Cave Story is six years old, looks much older, but people don't go into it with the expectation of it being graphically impressive. I don't see why the age of the game has much to do with anything, especially with this game. Graphically Uplink ain't the best, but were it produced today it might not turn out any different. I read a review that described the interface of Uplink as a dark, melodramatic version of Excel, and that interface can only look so good, you know?

Ok, but what I mean is, why did you buy the anthology? You apparently can't tell us anything about the game without spoiling it, so I presume you were in the same situation. Why would you possibly want to buy a game (or anthology of games, as it were) that you don't know anything about?

The age doesn't really have anything to do with it, it's just you described it as 'new', which it isn't. I was just being pedantic.

I bought the anthology when I was running Ubuntu because two of the games (I thought all four) run on Linux.

You played it yet?

The Wii one? Dude, what an amazing game that is; especially multiplayer. Never have I seen a room of great friends get so pissed off at each other and into a game. Very Happy

The second world (desert) was really hard, for some reason, compared to the rest of the game...

Uhm, have you been in that Ice-Level in the Special World where you have to use fire to get the Star Coins? THAT one is incredibly hard. I remember how I made it and turned off without saving Wall Bash

I don't remember the ice one being bad.. but I do remember, I think it was either 9-3 or 9-4, the moving screen with all the pipes and the bob-ombs? There was that final star coin where you had to keep your ice power and freeze a piranha plant at the very end to go into the secret pipe... Oh my god that was SO HARD.

I was kind of excluding the secret levels from the rest of the game, though. They were way harder. Razz

Four conducts. Oh yes.

I wasn't even going for genoless/polyselfless/artiwishless until I reached the endgame without breaking them and thought I might as well go for it. Only took me about ten or twelve attempts at vegetarian, too.

This makes three games I have ascended. I think next I might go for pacifist.

I just finished Alan Wake and I'm gonna start Red Dead Redemption when I get a chance. I was really afraid that AW was going to be really underrated, or even just bad, but, fortunately, it's a great game and is widely regarded as such.
