|
|
I know many of you are already familiar with the part-puzzle, part-racer, all-awesome music game known as Audiosurf. If you're not, you should be! Either way, the game's core feature is the player's ability to generate, and subsequently "surf" on, a literally infinite variety of tracks based heavily upon the player's musical selection. Depending on the piece one chooses, one's puzzling/racing/whatever-ing experience can and will change drastically.
Thus, two of the FCMidi community's most faithful members and I decided to take this concept to the logical next level.
Together with Hunter "Damian" Van Brocklin and Kyle "Izzhov" VanderWerf, it is my great pleasure to present: the Play This in Audiosurf EP!
The three-track EP kicks off with a characteristically upbeat, funky tune by yours truly entitled Hole in One. The compilation continues with Izzhov's quirky, electronic stylings in Evil Dark Spirits of Black Darkness. Finally, Damian's contribution, Nothing Says I Love You Like a Minor 4 Chord, brings PTiA to a close that I don't want to describe in any word other than "unique", lest I spoil its utter genius for the rest of you.
Please, enjoy, whether in Audiosurf or otherwise! _________________ ""

As I already mentioned in the IRC (...), I can't play since my trial version of audiosurf ran out. However, what I can say is:
@Hole in One: That's a really cool MarioKart-ish tune and the Aahs and Oohs were really a funny surprise. Nevertheless I find the chord at the almost-end weird.
@Evil Dark Spirit of Black Darkness: I fear one has to see the track to "see" the effect it has, though nice ending.
@Nothing Says I Love You Like a Minor 4 Chord: Goats? x) "I wanna have a relationship" XDDD
And also:

Hole in One: Very good Fruitzness. I like it a lot. =)
Evil Dark Spirits... : No doubt who wrote this one. =P
Nothing Says I Love You: Very good! I like this a lot. It's very long, but this is good, because it's good the whole time. I don't know if it was just my headphones, but most of the time the voice sounds drowned out. This isn't much of a problem for me, because I usually listen to the musicality of the voice, and not the lyrics, but I really couldn't understand 'em.

Hole in One also sounds like a Megaman theme to me. THe "Ooh"'s and "Ahh"'s got me as well.
Evil Dark Spirits of Black Darkness strikes me as a desert theme at times. But the evil dark blackness is there, definitely.
Damian needs to post lyrics for his song NAO.

You still think the voice sounds too low? I raised the volume of them once already. Hmm. If anyone else thinks so I'll up them a bit more, but I kind of like the level they're at right now.
Also thanks _________________ when the world is sick, can't no one be well? but i dreamt we was all beautiful and strong

These lyrics are... ridiculously awesome. Except for "though maybe you could lose some weight." No wonder that poem didn't work out in his favor when he gave it to a chick he was enamored with.

Yeah, except for the beginning, I really can't hear anything. Of course this may be due to my headphones or extremely poor hearing. Also, the goats or whatever are ridiculously awesome.

I hope this gets at least one of you to try Audiosurf! Or at the very least it gets SailorBusch to purchase the full version.
I'll let y'all in on a secret: EDSoBD wasn't the only track I made for this album. I originally had a track called "Metro Ride," but decided to make another one since Metro Ride isn't terribly exciting on Audiosurf (unlike Evil Spirits etcetera, which kicks arse on AS). Though to be honest, I like Metro Ride better, just as a song, than EDSoBD, so I may post it at a later date.
That being said, everyone here should at least download the free demo of Audiosurf, if only to try these songs on it!
And yes the harmonized sheep are the best 4-measure interlude of all time on any song. _________________ BRAND NEW FCMidi Forums! |

Although I did hear that part about fighting fate and losing weight the first time, at which point I cracked the hell up. _________________ [quote="Izzhov"]But you can probably drop me and tell Lester to do my panel instead, since he's already gay and frankly I really don't care about my sexual orientation. Just posting to say that all three of these were awesome.
Not much to say that hasn't already been said.
As for a favorite I'd say... Damian's.
I'll get around to Audio Surfing these someday. _________________ http://gadgettr.deviantart.com/ |

Hay, Kevin and Izzhov,
Since this week on AS Radio the update post left an email address for "Want to see your music featured on AS Radio?" and such.
Wanna try to get the EP posted on AS Radio for a week? :O I'd be happy to send the email over. _________________ when the world is sick, can't no one be well? but i dreamt we was all beautiful and strong

I sent in the email! We'll see if we get results!
I also updated my track, the vocals are now hopefully sufficiently loud to be 99% understood! Let me know what you guys think, Ricky and Fragg and all ya'lls who keyed me in on the fact that they were too quiet!
EDIT: That was a lot of exclamation points! And it was unintentional too! _________________ when the world is sick, can't no one be well? but i dreamt we was all beautiful and strong

Edit:
I googled Hunter's song to see if there was another source for it, and found this. Hunter's is #59. What the crap is this? _________________ Compassion is the radicalism of our time.

Mp3 spidering sites. They've pretty much got weird indexes of all sites with direct links to mp3s. I actually see a crap ton of those when I google my name or my music. Like, google atlamillia44, once you get past all my profiles and stuff it's just tons of mp3 web-spidering sites.
Also I don't really know, I definitely cleared my cache and was able to load both my website and some musics on it. _________________ when the world is sick, can't no one be well? but i dreamt we was all beautiful and strong
