For those games not worthy of their own topic.

For me Lumines: strangely addictive
and Rogue Galaxy: silly, but still fun. Also, pirates.

P.S. everyone should get Puzzle Quest. It's about 2000% better than the title suggests.

I also have Puzzle Quest! And while it is several times better than the title would suggest, I would not reccomend it without reservation. It's a fun puzzle game, but far as I'm concerned it fails to live up to it's potential. Do not buy unless you really like puzzle games!

As for me, I have been playing Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. It is remake of the PS1 classic, Final Fantasy Tactics, that so few got the chance to play. It's, like, the one game I've ever played that actually warrants a remake, considering the scarcity of the original.

The remake includes a more accurate translation of the game text, which can be disorientating for veteran players, but over all includes less engrish and grammatical errors, so it's all good. The only downside of the translation, as far as I can see it, is that everone seems to think their in some sort of Shakespearean play, dropping "thee"s and "thou"s every which way and abruptly spouting poetry in thier dialouge.

The remake also includes some slow-down upon casting spells, which is tiresome, but so far not gamebreaking.

I love FFT very much, and so far the remake does not dissapoint. On virtue of the original, I would heartily recommend it without reservation. Do not, if you would be so inclined, judge the game in comparision with other Final Fantasies, as it is an entirely unique experience. Whether you hate or love Final Fantasy in general matters very little in enjoying this game.

There is but one critical flaw in this game. And that would be, it is only released on the PSP. *sigh* Yeah, I know, now no-one can get it. Damnit, Square Enix, way to drop the ball.

Super Paper Mario. It's super-fun, but kinda easy. I've been stumped by puzzles a few times (HOW THE HELL WAS I MEANT TO KNOW THE MINE CART COULD DO FLIPS WHAT THE HELL YOU GUYS), but generally it's fun and good and easy.

Yeah that mine cart stumped me a bit.

Orange Box.

Everyone should buy this right away - not only is it great value for money, but the 5(!) games in it are all great.

I'm sorry that I keep harping on about it, but it really is that great.

My step-brother tried to get that but it was sold out. So he bought Two Worlds for his 360 instead. So I got to try it out over the weekend. It's an OK game, but it's no Oblivion. Hell, even I dont think Oblivion is all that great either.

I miss my Morrowind file..

That reminds me, I still have an old FFX file I need to finish. Is it just me or do Final Fantasy games have great gameplay but tedious storylines (FFXII) or vice versa (FFX)? Not that I have played too many Final Fantasy games but it seems to be the case.

I've been playing Final Fantasy X almost exclusively, attempting a No Sphere Grid run. I'm up to the very beginning of Mushroom Rock Road, and surprisingly enough I've been performing better than I normally do against bosses.

You said it. I'm on the last dungeon, and stuck for the first time (in a boss fight, if you must know). I miss the days when games were difficult Sad

Yeah, the classics. Smile

As for me: Super Smash Bros. Massacre (heh heh, a fan-game I'm working on. I'll get a demo of it someday in the Media Madness section).

Sonic Rush Adventure.

I could write a review on it, but ehh. It's best summed up like this:

Original Sonic Rush
+
Ability to switch between Sonic/Blaze at will in the same storyline
+
Way too many text / still-image cutscenes (at least they managed to fit 4 characters on the screen at once this time) and not enough animated cutscenes
+
A mission mode (which also provides a way to get the Sol Emeralds unlike the original, in which case you just sorta got them for free)
-
Cream, Knuckles and Amy
+
An annoying racoon character who used enough forced Australian dialect to probably make KBK crings (at least she has no voice actor), and a bunch of generic koala people who give you missions and such
+
Same generic plot of "some random guy's doing some random bad thing but some other guy's behind it all, oh btw I'll give you a hint the other guy's name starts with 'E' and ends with 'ggman'" (and his Nega version also appears)
+
A sailing system that is actually fun and doesn't fail
+
Usage of the stylus that also does not fail (i.e. not "lol controling evrything w/teh stylus = GOOD USE OF DS FEATURES LOL")... actually they had this in the original, but IMO it must be mentioned
-
A bit of music quality (but still decent)
+
Slightly better boss fights
=
Sonic Rush Adventure

Also, Bioshock. If you (or your roommates, in my case) own a 360, you will have played this. If you haven't, well, you don't own a 360. I just love the funny things you can do to the enemies. ROFL Lune

A short while ago I was playing the original Sonic Mega Drive games (1-3, K) to death and back. After that, I played such hacks as Knuckles in Sonic 1 and Sonic 1 Megamix when I got bored of them. Fwammo.

Eternal Sonata, mostly. XB360 RPG.

It wasn't bad, just not great. Took me about 25 hours after messing around a lot. Also it was easy. The plot ended up sucking pretty bad, nothing was ever really explained much to the point of which, around the end, it was like "Wait, what is my objective here?". They had plenty of plot-related things lined up to go that they never really detailed on too...
Then the battle system. It was pretty cool, a mixture of real-time and turn-based stuff, i.e. move around freely within a time limit and have turns, sorta Tales-ish. There were attacks and special attacks, and as you used normal attacks you got power to use for special attacks. Occasionally against a really large enemy this was glitched! Your built up power (the game calls this "Echoes") would just kinda stay there instead of getting used up in a special attack. And that sucked. Also you could guard against attacks, provided you were facing the enemy, but against the vast majority of them you needed, like, superhuman reflexes to do so. Near the end of the game you can counter attack! But I never managed to do that. Not once. Requires a different button and it was really uncommon. Also there was an item button. You could use items! Imagine that. And as you leveled up, you acquired the occasional new special attack. Most of them suck. There were light and dark areas of the field (like, light vs shadow basically) and your special attacks changed based on that. That was kinda neat but ultimately fruitless because, in most cases, there were completely identical special attacks in both light and dark. Eh.

All in all, pretty much a meh/10. Tri-Crescendo's done better, but it wasn't too bad for their first totally independent effort. I mean, it was fun... it just could've been ten times better, especially with its length and storyline. Maybe a bit more... use of the actual features that were implemented in its battle systems? It was all like "oh here's some kickass stuff we threw in to the battle system. you just won't be using them much."
Controls were fine, the music was good and occasionally great (thank you Motoi Sakuraba), gameplay was fine, story was bleh, length was suck. Did I mention that to attempt (badly) to make up for it, there was an hour-long ending? It was like, longer than Baten Kaitos' ending. The neat little musical allusions made me laugh, if nothing else. And the random Chopin history lessons were just plain pointless. The music, of course, was great, because Chopin's great.

Yeah, the O-Box is sick. I'm loving team fortress, so far I've played almost exclusively as a scout (I've tried everyone but kinda suck with them all), but it's just so much $%#&ing fun. Portals was sick too, but it's pretty darned short.

Also, me and Yosh just cracked into eternal sonata. So far it's $#@%ing awesome, we've been doing the co-op and all that and it's sweet. I love the battle system. = D

And of course Halo 3, the game that needs no explination. Wooord.

Yeah I heard that Halo 3 is FRIGGIN AWESOME and really wish I could play it soon.

Oh also I played Zero Wing (for the ignorant, that's the "ALL YOUR BASE" game) recently on an emulator. It's not the best star-fighter-sidescroller-shooter out there, but I hadn't played one in a while so it was nice. The music was kind of addictive too. Razz

For those of you playing Halo 3, gimme your gamertags via PM or something so we can play. Hell, I was playing it with TBO a couple weekends back. I enjoyed the brief few minutes when he was getting used to the new controls while I was killing him all the time - but after that it got more even. Unfortunately. ;[

I've been trying to get all the skulls in the game lately. For some reason, I can get to like three of them - where they're SUPPOSED to be - but they're just not there. Figure you've gotta do the whole level for them to appear or something; I've just been starting at the mission points..

I'd like to get Orange Box and Bioshock, but I've got Mass Effect reserved and I most definitely want to get the new Ace Combat next week plus either Rock Band or Guitar Hero 3 at one point(likely GH3 because I'm hearing Rock Band will only be available in a packaged deal with all the instruments instead of individual instruments until early next year. and that's too expensive). In short: too many games, too little cash. :[

My XBOX Live G-tag is Yoshgunn. LOL! I've never been known for my originality.

As for the skulls! There are a few in Halo 3 that will disappear after certain loading checkpoints are done, so be careful. And yes, it's always best to start at the beginning, but you can do it on Normal so the process is less tedious.

My tag's Chzrm. Add me to friends, B, I'm always down for some skullage. But if we're doing online co-op we gotta do it on legendary, or else y'know it's kinda stale.

And yeah I want Ace Combat too, that game looks sooo cool.

I also tried out Halo 3. Since my step-brother doesnt have Xbox Live (he doesnt see the need to waste his money on something he wont play on often) I played the campaign mode and it didnt really suck me in. I enjoyed the first game's campaign more than the later two.

Worth downloading? 740mb is quite a lot... and I do have to find somewhere to download it from that won't make me sign up to sit in a queue for an hour before letting me download its download manager so that I can download the file at a pitiful speed whilst being bombarded with adverts and adverts for the subscription service which will magically boost my internet speed to download faster than is possible.

I'd say it's worth downloading. Try filefront.
